International learners — everyone is welcome

Wherever you are in the world, you can study with us online from your own country, or come to the United Kingdom and study in person.

Open to everyone

UK accounting education, wherever you happen to live

IHM Accountant began by serving finance professionals across the Gulf, and the Middle East remains the largest part of what we do. But the demand did not stay there. Accountants in Lagos, Karachi, Manila, Warsaw and São Paulo want the same thing our Gulf learners wanted: accounting, taxation, payroll and bookkeeping taught to a UK standard, by trainers who have practised, with a certificate that describes honestly what was earned.

So the answer is simple. Everyone is welcome. There is no country we will not teach, no minimum group size for an individual learner, and no requirement to be based anywhere in particular.

An IHM training room prepared for an international cohort, with a world map and table flags from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan and the Philippines

One room, one cohort, ten countries. A typical intake for an intensive in the UK.

Two ways to study

Study in the UK, or study from home

Study in the United Kingdom

Come to us. In-person programmes run as short intensives — typically three to eight days, depending on the course — so that a single trip covers a full qualification. You get the classroom, the trainer's undivided attention and a cohort of finance professionals from several countries at once, which many learners say is half the value.

  • Short intensive format, built around one trip
  • Small cohorts drawn from several countries
  • A supporting letter for your visa application once your fee is settled
  • Guidance on accommodation near the venue
  • The same assessment and certificate as every other route

We provide the enrolment documentation a visa application requires. We are not immigration advisers and cannot influence a visa decision — check the requirements for your nationality before booking travel.

Study from your own country

Stay where you are. Every course we teach is available live online, scheduled in your time zone rather than ours. This is how the majority of our learners study, in every region, and the assessment and certificate are identical to the in-person route.

  • Live sessions with a real trainer, not recorded video
  • Scheduled around your working week and your time zone
  • Sessions recorded for your own revision where you want them
  • On-site delivery in your country for group and corporate bookings
  • No travel, no visa, no time away from work

For organisations training a team, we will travel to you where the numbers make it practical — anywhere in the world.

Where our learners are

Four regions, one standard

Alongside our established Middle East programmes, we teach across these regions. The syllabus does not change; the scheduling, the examples and the local reporting context do.

Asia

Asia

From Karachi and Mumbai to Manila, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Dhaka, we teach accountants working under IFRS and local reporting standards side by side.

Asia is our fastest-growing region outside the Gulf. Many learners here already hold a local accounting qualification and come to us for the UK reporting perspective their employer or their next role requires. Sessions are scheduled in the evening across South and South-East Asian time zones so that nobody has to take leave to study.

Most requested: Financial Reporting, Financial Management and UK Taxation Principles.

Africa

Africa

Lagos, Accra, Nairobi, Cairo, Kampala, Johannesburg — finance professionals across the continent train with us both online and in the UK.

Demand across Africa is weighted towards foundation and intermediate programmes for staff entering finance roles, and towards Financial Reporting for accountants working with international parent companies. We also work with African organisations sponsoring cohorts of staff, where the training is delivered online with a residential week in the UK at the end.

Most requested: Accounting Fundamentals, Bookkeeping Essentials and Financial Reporting.

Europe

Europe

Learners across the EU, the Balkans, Turkey and the UK itself, many of them working for groups with a British parent or a British subsidiary.

European learners typically want the UK dimension specifically: UK taxation principles, UK reporting practice, and the terminology used by British auditors and lenders. Proximity also makes in-person study in the UK straightforward, and short intensive formats are popular for exactly that reason.

Most requested: UK Taxation Principles, Financial Reporting and Financial Management.

South America

South America

São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Santiago, Lima — accountants working with international reporting requirements and multinational parents.

Our South American learners are usually accountants in multinational subsidiaries who must report upwards under IFRS while operating under local rules. Sessions run in the late afternoon and evening UK time, which lands comfortably in the South American working day.

Most requested: Financial Reporting, Accounting for Non-Accountants and Financial Management.

Not on this list? That is not a problem. We have taught learners from countries that appear nowhere on this page, and the answer is always the same: tell us where you are and we will schedule around you.

One standard

The same certificate, whichever route you took

An online learner in Nairobi, a residential learner in the UK and a corporate cohort in Kuala Lumpur sit the same assessment and receive the same certificate. We do not issue a lesser document to people who studied remotely, and we do not mark more gently because someone travelled.

Every certificate states the programme, the guided learning hours and the assessment method, so an employer in any country can see what was actually done. Employers can verify any certificate by reference with us directly.

Common questions

Questions international learners ask

Do I have to be in the Middle East to enrol?

No. The Middle East is where we started and remains our largest market, but every course is open to learners anywhere in the world.

Is the online course the same as the one taught in the UK?

Yes. Same syllabus, same trainer, same assessment, same certificate. The difference is the room, not the standard.

Can you help with a visa if I want to study in the UK?

We provide the enrolment letter and documentation a visa application needs. We cannot advise on immigration or influence the outcome, so check the requirements for your nationality before you book travel.

What language is teaching in?

English. Arabic-language support can be arranged for group bookings on request.

Will my certificate be recognised in my country?

Employers generally accept our certificates as evidence of assessed training, and each one states its guided learning hours and assessment method so that it can be evaluated. Formal governmental recognition varies by country and we will tell you honestly whether it applies before you enrol.

How do you handle time zones?

We schedule to your working day, not ours. Evening sessions for Asia, daytime for Africa and Europe, late afternoon UK time for the Americas.

Can my company book a cohort outside the Middle East?

Yes. Group and corporate programmes run anywhere, online or on site. See group and corporate training.
